The Adventurer

The month of October is almost ended and in the US that means Halloween. This time of year stores pop up with all kinds of costumes for adults and children to dress up in who ever they want to be.

Earlier in the month, I went to Puerto Rico for a business conference. For the final Gala, the theme was "Adventurers" and we were able to dress up as any adventurer we wanted. This followed our conference theme where we had 3 true adventurers tell us their stories and how to implement what they learned into our lives. The first was Yossi Ghinsberg who had his adventure in the Amazon. He taught me what true survival is and the meaning of true friendship. Steve Donahue talked about his adventure in the Sahara Desert and finding one's compass. Our last adventurer was Neal Petersen one of the few people who has finished the longest, most extreme race of 27,000 miles in a boat for nine months alone! He reminded me of the importance of doing things of significance and never giving up on one's dreams. Each of these great men had the opprtunity to become the best version of themselves.

Many times in life we put on masks and costumes to pretend we are something we are not. Sometimes, like Haloween, it is fun to pretend to be someone else. And yet, in reality, everday of our lives we have the opportunity to become that very person. Every day we have the chance to choose who we are Being through our thoughts, our words and our actions. We can become the great adventurer and enjoy this journey we called life,or we can live simple and small and miss some great opportunities that life has to offer. Me? I'm choosing advenure!
